Denver Schools Superintendent Michael Bennet -- a member of the inaugural class of the Aspen NewSchools Fellows and an active participant in the Aspen Institute Education and Society Program's Urban Superintendents Network -- has been designated by Colorado Governor Bill Ritter as Senator Ken Salazar's replacement. Salazar has been nominated by President-Elect Obama as the next Secretary of the Interior. Bennet spoke about building strong schools at the 2007 Aspen Ideas Festival.

US-Lebanon Dialogue Program Launched. The Aspen Institute, in partnership with the Lebanon Renaissance Foundation, launched a new US-Lebanon Dialogue Program with a day-long conference examining US-Lebanon relations, the upcoming Lebanese elections, and the role of militant Islamist groups in Lebanon.
