Support the Center

Your gift to The Center renews your commitment to the struggle for equality and justice for gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people in Colorado. Life is getting better for the GLBT community – but we need your support today to continue our work.

Your support today will be matched dollar for dollar by the Gill Foundation if received by December 31st, 2009. That money will help sustain The Center’s programs and services, and work toward a future that includes basic rights and dignity for all.

Center wins funding, planning assistance to launch elders program

In response to requests from the LGBT community, The Center will soon provide programs for elders. With the securing of a capacity building grant of federal money through JVA Consultants, Center staff will this month begin designing the framework for the new program. JVA is a private consulting firm that has secured a federal contract to work with Colorado nonprofits developing services for the Baby Boomer generation.

Building on the years of success of Gay and Gray in the West, The Center’s program will grow into a comprehensive program developing outreach to GLBT elders for a range of social supports and services as well as advocacy for GLBT seniors with existing social services.

The grant involves a monetary award to The Center and technical assistance projected through 2010.

Link, a healthy living program from The GLBT Community Center of Colorado, is your connection to health care providers who understand and are sensitive to the needs of the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer and/or intersex (GLBTQI) community. Link’s searchable online database makes it easy to find health providers who have been pre-qualified for their sensitivity to GLBTQI patients and their specific health issues.

Make sure you’re receiving the type of care that will truly help you stay healthy. Check out your connection for health at www.GLBTlink.org.
