Matching Gifts for WOMEN'S WAY
Last fiscal year WOMEN’S WAY raised over $20,000 from matching gifts. Corporate matching gifts are a great way for WOMEN’S WAY supporters to maximize personal contributions and increase the impact of their gift. By taking advantage of a company's matching gift benefit, you may be able to double or even triple the amount of a contribution! Make the most out of your support. It’s easy. Check with your company's human resources or payroll department to see whether it offers a matching gift program. Ask for donation guidelines and forms and fill them out. WOMEN’S WAY will be notified of the match request and will confirm your original gift. Please remind others to consider matching gifts as they make their contributions to WOMEN’S WAY. We want to put every possible dollar to work to help women, girls and families in our region.
WOMEN'S WAY Hires a Director of Education and Advocacy Initiatives
Rebecca Foley recently joined WOMEN’S WAY as Director of Education and Advocacy Initiatives. Rebecca has public policy, advocacy, and government relations experience. She relocated to Philadelphia from Massachusetts where she was the Education Policy Manager at Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts. At Planned Parenthood, Rebecca developed a statewide coalition of over 120 organizations working to make comprehensive health and sex education a requirement in all Massachusetts public schools. Prior to her time at Planned Parenthood, she worked as a policy analyst for the Joint Committee on Public Health in the Massachusetts State Legislature.
As Director of Education and Advocacy Initiatives, Rebecca will work closely with Member Agencies and Community Women’s Fund grantees to increase public awareness and generate support for a wide range of policy issues impacting women, girls and families. This newly established position will allow WOMEN’S WAY to increase visibility, extend education and outreach efforts, strengthen its base of support and truly be A Powerful Voice for Women.
What is going on with the WOMEN'S WAY Mural? The WOMEN'S WAY mural needs a new home. Its location is very vulnerable because of heavy traffic and construction. It also has been the subject of graffiti, and the paint was rapidly deteriorating. We were hoping to repaint in that same location, but the Mural Arts Project now believes that the moisture and pollution are so bad in those underpasses that no murals should go in that space. The mural lasted over 10 years, but as it is now projecting more of a negative image than a positive one, we mutually agreed it should be painted over. We are seeking a new stucco wall in Center City for another mural, and will need to find funding to make it happen. Should you have any ideas, please pass them along. Thanks!
Your Support Makes a Difference
Seventeen organizations received notification they have received a grant from the Spring 2008 cycle of the Community Women’s Fund! $209,904 will be distributed to these organizations for innovative and crucial programs for women, girls and families in our area. Over 52 organizations applied, requesting over $775,000, demonstrating the huge need yet to be filled. Please give today to help us provide even more funding in 2009.
Thank you to all of our special supporters who make contributions to WOMEN'S WAY through their workplace giving campaigns. It can take months for us to be notified of your gift, but please know how much we appreciate your generous support! Click here for more information on Workplace Giving Campaigns.
