This paper encourages those who work with youth to understand the impact of prejudice and discrimination on vulnerable adolescents, to assess and address their needs, and to build on their assets. In prevention programming, it is essential to empower young participants by involving them in all aspects of designing and running programs for youth. It is equally essential to provide culturally appropriate interventions, with culturally competent adult and youth staff.

This research clearly presents the effect of oppression and discrimination on the health of youth. The disparities between youth from different classes and backgrounds is reflected in their sexual experiences. This research motivates the reader to be a support system for youth struggling with low self-esteem and to help them find strength to make smart and healthy decisions. The current trends of behavior and health correlating to social status does not have to continue into the future. This article presents many ways in which youth can be helped to end the cycle. This research was interesting and focused on an issue that needs attention.
