This report provides a brief overview of the results of the 2008 Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Campaign (for the 2007 tax year). This is one in a series of reports on the 2008 EITC Campaign; complementing this 'At a Glance' report is a more detailed report on the overall campaign, detailed data reports for each site, and summary reports for each site and Oakland as a whole. All reports are available at www.urbanstrategies.org except site reports which can be obtained directly from each site coordinator.

2008 marked the sixth year of the county-wide campaign, originally launched in the fall of 2002 to offer free tax filing assistance to low-income families in order to:
  • Increase the number of eligible tax filers who receive the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit; and
  • Provide asset development opportunities to low-income families
