The foundation seeks to promote the mental, moral, and physical welfare of the inhabitants of Cambridge, MA (or elsewhere, if specified by the donor), through grants to community agencies, generally for: 1) social services - child welfare and development, emergency aid, employment and job training, legal assistance, and family services; 2) education - elementary and secondary education and ESL/GED programs; 3) health - hospice and home care, mental health and counseling, and substance abuse programs; and 4) housing and shelter - home improvement and repair, housing development, and shelter and transitional housing. Other areas of focus include gender issues, volunteer services, and community and capacity building.
