The data presented in this report were derived from the Public Use Microdata Samples (PUMS 5%) of the U.S. Census Bureau. These data sets contain detailed information on individual households and individuals including ancestry and place of birth. They have been analyzed by our research team to produce a more accurate assessment of the characteristics of each Latino nationality than the official data released by the Census Bureau. The long-term objective of the project is to create an interactive internet web site dedicated to making information available on the dynamically growing Latino populations of the United States. This web site will post, and continually update, a wide range of quantitative and qualitative data on Latino populations in a variety of accessible formats. These data will be designed for easy access to a broad audience consisting of professional researchers, university faculty, primary and secondary school teachers, students from grades K through 12, university undergraduate and graduate students, journalists, politicians, government officials, private corporations, and general information seekers.
