Measuring the impact of organizations working towards social goals has become increasingly important, not just to maximize resources but also to reassure givers that their donations are being put to the best use. Organizations and individuals have called for professional social impact analysis and a dialog on impact assessment practices has emerged among foundations and nonprofits. Corporate and family foundations in India have made tremendous contributions to social development, with enormous potential to disseminate learnings on creating social change. Nevertheless, most conversations on social impact are taking place in pockets, with differing practices and perceptions. The focus needs to shift towards adapting and standardizing best practices, which will foster stronger strategies and greater collaboration, and hence make moremeaningful change.
